At the Villa Sauber, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) unveils its latest initiative, AGORA, La Place du Musée – LAB#3, transforming the museum into a vibrant hub of artistic engagement that extends until May 4, 2025. This innovative exhibition redefines the traditional museum experience by actively involving visitors in the realms of art creation, preservation, and discussion, emphasizing the museum’s foundational roles in a modern context.
AGORA represents the third phase of the NMNM's LAB series, which critically examines the evolving role of museums. This iteration focuses on fostering a deeper connection between the museum's collections and the public, through the lens of contemporary artists and community involvement. Notable features include displays of works from the Apprentis Collectionneurs program alongside Monaco’s heritage collections, complemented by new works from resident artists Léna Durr and Éléonore False, which collectively bridge historical and contemporary artistic narratives.
Beyond merely showcasing art, AGORA is designed as an interactive platform for education and creative expression. Ahead of a significant architectural renovation at Villa Sauber, the exhibition spotlights NMNM’s educational initiatives like La Collection Voyageuse and Le Nouveau Musée Numérique. These programs, along with workshops and interactive projects like Écoletopie by studio smarin, invite public participation in a range of artistic processes, fostering a dynamic environment where art is both observed and actively produced.
