Gildo Pastor, President of Venturi Space based in Monaco, recently orchestrated a prestigious gathering featuring HSH Prince Albert II, Apollo 15 Commander General David Scott, and astronaut Jean-François Clervoy. This high-profile event marked a significant discussion on Monaco's emerging role in lunar exploration, particularly through Venturi's advancements in moon rover technology. The inclusion of such notable figures underscored the principality's alignment with pioneering space exploration initiatives.
The gathering highlighted Venturi Space's strategic preparations for their forthcoming lunar missions slated for 2025 and 2026, showcasing their collaborative efforts across European bases in Monaco, Switzerland, and France, and with North American partner Venturi Astrolab, Inc. The focal points of the event were the innovative lunar rovers, FLIP and FLEX. FLIP is expected to launch in 2025, while FLEX is gearing up for a SpaceX journey in 2026, with the latter also being considered for NASA's esteemed Artemis V mission in 2030.
The event not only served as a platform for technological display but also as a convergence of Monaco’s distinguished leaders, including Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister for External Relations and Cooperation, and Pierre-André Chiappori, Minister for Finance and the Economy. The attendees delved into the technicalities of the lunar missions, with insights from space veterans like Scott and Clervoy enhancing the discussions. The showcase of Monaco-developed lunar battery technologies and Swiss hyper-deformable lunar wheel technology further highlighted the principality’s contributions to space exploration.
