In a significant melding of tradition and modernity, UBS Monaco has inaugurated its new headquarters at the historic Villa Belgica, a site rich with architectural and cultural history. The refurbished building, redesigned by the renowned architect Jean Nouvel, encapsulates a blend of the old-world charm of the Belle Époque era with sustainable and contemporary elements. This project not only revitalizes a significant landmark in the heart of Monaco but also represents UBS's commitment to sustainability, aiming for BREEAM Excellence and BD2M Gold certifications, which reflect high standards in energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
The transformation of Villa Belgica, acquired in 1925 by Alfred Bouvier, maintains its distinctive early 20th-century features, including the corner dome, while integrating modern design and functionality. The building now serves as a central hub for UBS Monaco, enhancing client interactions through its city-center location and facilities that include top-floor dining and leisure spaces offering Michelin-inspired Mediterranean cuisine by the Lovisolo family. The redesign by Bel Œil features interiors that promote openness and collaboration, utilizing high-quality materials such as fine woods and leather to foster an inviting and productive environment.
Jean Nouvel’s architectural approach carefully balances the preservation of historical integrity with the needs of a modern financial institution, setting a precedent for future developments in Monaco's architectural landscape. UBS's new headquarters not only underscores the bank's dedication to heritage and innovation but also sets a new standard in integrating corporate spaces within the principality’s unique urban fabric, promising a forward-looking yet respectful approach to Monaco's built environment.
