Stade Louis II Marks 40 Years as a Central Cultural and Sporting Venue in Monaco

The Stade Louis II, a cornerstone of Monaco's architectural and cultural identity, commemorates its 40th anniversary this year. Since its inauguration by Prince Rainier III on January 25, 1985, the stadium has stood as a prominent symbol in the Principality, noted for its unique arches. Serving multiple purposes, it has hosted a variety of sporting, cultural, and community events, affirming its integral role in Monegasque society.

A series of celebratory events are planned, beginning with an official ceremony on February 4 in the stadium’s Salon d’Honneur. This event will reflect on the stadium’s journey from its initial concept to its celebrated opening, bringing together individuals instrumental in its establishment and evolution. This will underscore the Stade Louis II's enduring significance within the community.

Further highlighting its rich history, an exhibition titled "Il était une première fois" will open in April. Set in the stadium’s recently renovated pedestrian walkway, the exhibition, curated by scenographer Ahmad Reshad and journalist Gérard Holtz, will feature archival materials, photographs, and memorabilia. It aims to offer an immersive retrospective of the stadium's pivotal moments, including its inaugural events, ensuring the legacy of Stade Louis II is appreciated for months to come.
