Stabbing Incident at Square Lamarck Leaves Beausoleil Man Injured

On a quiet Sunday evening in the Moneghetti district that connects Monaco and Beausoleil, a man was found severely injured with stab wounds to his abdomen and thigh at Square Lamarck. The victim, a Beausoleil resident who works in Monaco, was immediately transported to Pasteur Hospital in Nice, where he underwent surgery and is currently in a stable condition.

The same evening, Monegasque police apprehended a 30-year-old suspect from Menton, of foreign nationality, on Boulevard d’Italie. He surrendered without resistance and, after a 48-hour detainment, was charged with attempted murder and placed in provisional detention at Rocher Prison. The Monaco Public Prosecutor’s Office has indicated that the ongoing investigation is exploring the possibility of an ambush, although the knife used in the attack has yet to be found and the suspect’s motives are still unclear.

This troubling incident is the third knife attack in the district since 2019, following previous occurrences linked to domestic violence and severe injuries in a state apartment. Authorities are diligently working to establish any connections between the victim and the assailant and to prevent future violence, underscoring a pressing need for enhanced security measures in the area.
