Monaco’s Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) has strategically expanded its luxury gaming influence by inaugurating its first Monte-Carlo Casino outside the principality aboard the luxury cruise ship, Crystal Symphony. The launch event took place in Venice on November 14, introducing a 110-square-meter casino space that mirrors the grandeur of the historic Monte-Carlo establishment. Olivier Bernard, Director of Real Estate Development at SBM, led the design efforts, creating an environment that combines modern aesthetics with elements reminiscent of the illustrious 1889 salon of Monte-Carlo Casino, complete with a Belle Époque-style private salon, opulent furnishings, and a striking central crystal chandelier.
Stéphane Valeri, Deputy Chairman of SBM, highlighted the significance of this venture, viewing it as a pivotal move in SBM’s strategy to engage with global markets while maintaining its heritage and leadership in the luxury gaming sector. The partnership with Crystal Cruises, managed through A&K Travel Group, is pivotal in broadening SBM’s reach, offering an authentic Monte-Carlo experience to a global clientele. Manfredi Lefebvre, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group, affirmed SBM as the unparalleled choice for this collaboration, given its 160-year legacy in the casino industry.
Building on this successful launch, SBM plans to extend its casino operations with a second Monte-Carlo branded facility set to debut on December 18 aboard the Crystal Serenity. This new casino will feature during the ship's voyage from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and will be equipped with three gaming tables and 32 slot machines. This expansion is part of a broader initiative, with SBM aiming to install Monte-Carlo Casinos on all future Crystal Cruises vessels, excluding expedition ships, thereby reinforcing its presence in the international luxury gaming market.
