This Thursday, SNCF is set to conduct a significant "test day" across its TER lines, a precursor to the planned expansion of train services between Nice and Ventimiglia, slated to commence on December 15, 2024. The trial will encompass several pivotal routes such as Les Arcs Draguignan – Saint-Raphaël-Valescure – Cannes – Antibes – Nice, and Grasse – Cannes – Nice – Ventimiglia. To facilitate this, TER schedules will be temporarily adjusted to mirror the proposed future timetable enhancements.
The initiative aims to gear up for a substantial increase in train frequencies on the Nice-Ventimiglia line, supporting the Southern Region's strategy to ensure trains run at 15-minute intervals throughout the day along this vital corridor linking the Côte d’Azur with Italy. Notably, for Monaco commuters, an additional train is scheduled to depart Nice-Ville at 09:05, slotting neatly between the existing 08:51 and 09:19 services, thereby augmenting travel options to the principality.
Passengers are advised to visit the SNCF TER Sud website to view detailed schedules and obtain updates regarding the test operations. Should this trial prove successful, the modified schedule will be permanently enacted starting December 15, enhancing connectivity and convenience for daily commuters and travelers along this busy route.
