The Roca Team, Monaco's reigning champions, faced a challenging match this Sunday, succumbing 86-74 to Le Mans at home, marking their third loss in the current Betclic Elite season. The match began unfavorably for Monaco, with Le Mans displaying superior long-range shooting capabilities, achieving a 24-17 lead in the first quarter. Monaco struggled offensively, managing a mere 29 percent shooting accuracy from the field and hitting only 2 of 13 attempted three-pointers by the mid-game break.
Monaco momentarily regained momentum in the third quarter with an 8-0 run against a scoreless Le Mans, igniting hopes of a comeback. However, Le Mans' Trey Buchanan countered effectively, scoring 13 points in the quarter, including three pivotal three-pointers, to maintain a seven-point lead as the teams entered the final period. Despite Monaco's intensified efforts, Le Mans held firm and closed the game with a secure 12-point lead.
This defeat places additional pressure on Monaco as they aim to defend their title, necessitating a strategic regrouping. Meanwhile, the victory propels Le Mans nearer to the playoff qualification zone, boosting their season prospects.
