Roca Team Secures Key EuroLeague Victory Against Alba Berlin Despite Challenges

The Roca Team kicked off their 2025 EuroLeague season with a decisive 105-90 win against Alba Berlin at Uber Arena, despite missing several key players due to injuries and illnesses. The Monaco-based team displayed a strong offensive performance in the first half, establishing a significant lead despite the absences of Alpha Diallo, Terry Tarpey, Mam Jaiteh, and Petr Cornelie. Under the guidance of coach Vassilis Spanoulis, the team, led by Mike James, maintained control throughout the game, securing their position at the top of the EuroLeague standings, alongside Olympiakos.

Despite a robust start with a 30-21 lead at the end of the first quarter, Monaco faced a resurgence from Alba Berlin in the second half. The German team, energized by their home crowd, narrowed the gap to just six points in the fourth quarter. However, strategic plays and critical scoring from Mike James and Matthew Strazel helped Monaco regain stability and ultimately extend their lead, culminating in a 15-point victory. Key contributions also came from Jordan Loyd and Donatas Motiejunas, who were instrumental in both offense and defense.

This victory underscores Monaco's resilience and adaptability under challenging circumstances, affirming their status as a formidable contender in the EuroLeague. Coach Spanoulis praised the team's character and determination, though he acknowledged the need for defensive improvements. As the season continues, Monaco remains focused on maintaining their top-tier performance and addressing any strategic weaknesses, with an eye on the fiercely competitive matches that lie ahead in the EuroLeague.
