Princess Grace Rose Garden Marks 40th Anniversary with Special Gardener Event

The Princess Grace Rose Garden in Monaco is set to conclude its 40th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, following three months filled with creative workshops and festivities. On this final day, residents and visitors to the Principality are invited to join the garden's caretakers for a unique event titled ‘Taille des rosiers avec les Jardiniers’ starting at 10 am. This guided tour offers an exclusive look at the skilled practice of rose pruning and care, showcasing the dedication that maintains this cherished site, and providing an educational glimpse into the garden's ongoing story.

This verdant sanctuary was established by Prince Rainier III as a tribute to Princess Grace’s love of flowers and nature, with its inauguration on June 18, 1984, in the Fontvieille district. The garden features a striking bronze statue of Princess Grace, crafted by sculptor Kees Verkade in 1983, standing at its heart. Originally home to 4,000 rose bushes across 168 varieties, the garden has expanded to 3,500 m² and now boasts over 5,500 rose bushes, symbolizing the growth and enduring beauty of Princess Grace’s legacy.

Over the years, the Princess Grace Rose Garden has flourished into a significant part of Monaco’s cultural heritage, attracting countless visitors and serving as a focal point for remembrance and discovery. As the anniversary festivities come to an end, this iconic garden continues to represent the deep connection between the Principality and its beloved botanical jewel, celebrating four decades of floral magnificence and honoring the memory of a princess who profoundly touched Monaco.
