The Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco recently marked its 40th anniversary with a series of events celebrating the cultural contributions of Princess Grace to the principality and her Irish heritage. On November 20, a special commemorative book, released by the Archives du Palais de Monaco, was unveiled at a ceremony attended by Monaco's elite, including HSH Prince Albert II and HRH the Princess of Hanover. The book, filled with archival images and personal stories, traces the historical visits of the Monegasque Princely Family to Ireland and highlights the lasting ties between Monaco and Ireland.
Enhancing the reader's experience, the publication incorporates QR codes that connect to musical performances from students of Monaco and Dublin's conservatoires and a film that revisits the library's opening in 1984. These multimedia features, including a unique musical piece by Michael Flatley titled the “Princess Grace Set,” crafted specifically for this milestone, underscore the library's ongoing commitment to celebrating Irish culture.
Looking ahead, the Princess Grace Irish Library announced its 2025 cultural theme centered around the Irish diaspora's global influence. The forthcoming year will feature a rich array of events including lectures, concerts, and literary discussions, supported by notable figures and institutions such as Sir Michael Smurfit and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. This programming not only honors Princess Grace’s Irish ancestry but also reinforces the library’s role as a pivotal cultural hub in Monaco. For more details on upcoming events, visit www.pgil.mc.
