Princess Charlene Champions Drowning Prevention for Monaco's Youth at Grimaldi Forum Event

The Grimaldi Forum recently transformed into a hub of educational activity as it hosted a significant initiative on Friday, November 22, focusing on drowning prevention for Monaco’s youth. Under the guidance of HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco, the event gathered all 310 first-year primary school students from the Principality for an enlightening morning filled with interactive workshops and educational activities aimed at imparting crucial water safety knowledge.

The initiative was orchestrated by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, with support from the Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, Monaco City Hall, the Monaco Red Cross, and several other key local entities such as the Maritime and Airport Police Division, the Monaco Fire Brigade, and the Monaco Academy of the Sea. Through these sessions, the young attendees were educated about essential life-saving techniques and the use of emergency equipment, all designed to combat the global challenge posed by drowning, which results in over 230,000 fatalities annually.

In addition to the practical learning sessions, the event featured a presentation of "La Magie de l’Eau," an illustrated children’s book by Mélinda Guery, aimed at fostering an understanding of and respect for aquatic environments. The author, alongside Sandrine Raymond Lucarini, introduced the book, which was distributed to each child along with a swim cap and a winter hat adorned with the Foundation’s colors. This initiative underscores Monaco’s dedication to enhancing water safety through comprehensive education and collaborative efforts.
