Princess Charlène Elected President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation

Princess Charlène has been appointed as the President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, an announcement from the Federation confirmed today. Her election, which took place during the board meeting on October 29, underscores her longstanding dedication to the sport, further highlighted by her proactive involvement through the Princess Charlène Foundation since its inception in 2012. The Foundation has been pivotal in promoting rugby, notably organizing the Sainte-Dévote U12 Rugby Tournament and initiating a 'rugby exchange' program in 2016, aimed at fostering cultural exchanges among young players.

Further demonstrating her commitment to rugby, Princess Charlène founded the Monegasque 7-a-side rugby team, the Impis, in 2017. The team has since achieved notable successes, including clinching the prestigious Melrose 7s in 2023 and maintaining a competitive presence in the Dubai 7s World Tour. In her capacity as president, she intends to bolster support for the Federation’s teams and volunteers and enhance the visibility of Monegasque rugby on an international level.

With the Monegasque Rugby Federation established in 1996, the addition of Princess Charlène is anticipated to inject a new dynamism into the sport within the Principality. Her leadership is expected to drive the Federation’s mission to promote the sport across all levels and reinvigorate its stature both locally and globally.
