Four new diplomats have officially commenced their roles in Monaco following the presentation of their Letters of Credence to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. The ceremony, held on Thursday, October 17, was conducted under the supervision of Marie-Catherine Caruso-Ravera, Director of Diplomatic and Consular Relations, on behalf of the Government Counsellor-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. This event marks the beginning of their diplomatic missions within the Principality.
The ambassadors, hailing from Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Cyprus, each arrive with substantial diplomatic backgrounds. Notably, Pavlos Kombos of Cyprus, with significant experience in the European Union, serves concurrently in several prestigious roles including his recent position as Deputy Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the EU. His credentials extend across France, UNESCO, and the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). Similarly, Manisha Gunasekera from Sri Lanka continues her expansive 28-year diplomatic journey, concurrently serving as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO.
Further enriching Monaco's diplomatic landscape, David Buy of Cambodia and Mahlet Hailu Guadey of Ethiopia bring their esteemed international experience to the fore. Buy, with prior key roles in Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Guadey, with her strong background in African and international diplomacy from her assignments in Los Angeles and Paris, also represent their respective countries in multiple European nations and international organizations. These appointments underscore Monaco’s ongoing commitment to fostering robust global relationships.
