Prince Albert Marks 50th Anniversary of RMC Transmitter in Roumoules

In a significant visit to Roumoules, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, HSH Prince Albert II marked the 50th anniversary of the Radio Monte-Carlo (RMC) transmitter center on September 11. This facility, inaugurated in 1974, has played a pivotal role in extending RMC's broadcast reach across France and Italy, thereby enhancing Monaco's influence in the European media landscape.

During the event, Prince Albert II, alongside local dignitaries such as Prefect Marc Chappuis and Mayor Gilles Megis, and representatives from Monaco Media Diffusion, unveiled a commemorative plaque. This act not only celebrated the long-standing operation of the transmitter but also reinforced the historical bonds between Roumoules and the Principality of Monaco, tracing back to when the village was part of the Grimaldi-Régusse family holdings in the 17th century.

The visit concluded with a ceremony at Roumoules' Place de la République, where Prince Albert II was bestowed honorary citizenship. This gesture further solidified the deep-rooted connections between Monaco and this Provençal community, underscoring the shared history and ongoing collaboration between the two regions.
