Prince Albert II of Monaco Offers Condolences to US Following Terror Attack

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco has expressed his sincere condolences to U.S. President Joe Biden and the American public following a devastating terrorist attack in New Orleans. In a thoughtful letter, the Prince shared his grief and extended sympathy on behalf of himself and the people of Monaco. “It is with profound sadness that I learned of the tragic events in New Orleans, which claimed the lives of innocent individuals and left many others injured," he wrote, underscoring his solidarity with all affected by this act of violence.

The attack holds a poignant significance for Monaco, occurring close to the birthplace of Princess Alice Heine, Monaco’s first American princess and wife of Prince Albert I. Born in New Orleans in 1857, Princess Alice is a celebrated historical figure in Monaco. Prince Albert II has often spoken of her important legacy, particularly during his 2018 visit to New Orleans for the city’s tercentenary celebrations, where he honored her contributions to the principality’s cultural heritage.

This connection to New Orleans was further emphasized by Prince Albert II, who has previously noted the city’s resilience, especially following the challenges of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Nearly two decades later, as New Orleans confronts this new tragedy, the Prince’s message reaffirms a shared history and a mutual commitment to overcoming adversity.
