Prince Albert II and Carabinieri Celebrate Saint Sebastian in Monaco

In a solemn ceremony at Monaco Cathedral, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II joined government officials, municipal representatives, and members of the security forces to honor Saint Sebastian, the patron saint of the Carabinieri. This traditional event, established over 70 years ago by Prince Rainier III, underscores the deep-rooted commitment of the Carabinieri to protect the Sovereign and his family. The mass, celebrated by Father Jean-Louis Giordan, served as a poignant reminder of Saint Sebastian's role in military history and his significance to the Carabinieri, emphasizing unity and loyalty within their ranks.

The ceremony was enriched with musical performances by the Prince’s Carabinieri Orchestra, enhancing the reflective and respectful atmosphere of the event. Although the customary reception at the Oceanographic Museum was postponed due to Prince Albert hosting a delegation from Turkmenistan, the significance of the day remained undiminished. The gathering also provided an opportunity for the Carabinieri to remember their fallen comrades and strengthen the camaraderie among the current members.

Reflecting on the day's events, one officer highlighted the dual nature of the celebration as a time of remembrance and joy. The presence of Prince Albert II added a significant layer of meaning, reinforcing the strong bond between the Sovereign and his dedicated security force. The ceremony not only paid homage to the rich heritage of the Carabinieri but also reaffirmed their crucial role in maintaining the security and cultural legacy of Monaco.
