Nice Côte d’Azur Airport has achieved a new passenger record, hosting 14.7 million travelers in 2024, thus surpassing its previous high of 14.5 million set in 2019. This milestone was reached despite a slight decrease in the number of flights, with 109,455 recorded in 2024 compared to 110,866 in 2019, indicating a robust recovery in air travel demand post-pandemic.
The airport now connects the French Riviera to 122 destinations worldwide, spread across 45 countries. It has significantly broadened its long-haul offerings, particularly enhancing its routes to North America and the Gulf region, catering to both business and leisure travelers looking for direct and efficient travel options.
However, the proposed expansion of Terminal 2, intended to accommodate surging passenger numbers during peak times, has stirred controversy. Concerns have been raised by local residents and environmental activists about potential increases in noise pollution and the overall impact on the region, which already grapples with the pressures of high tourist influxes.
