On Sunday, November 10, 2024, community members from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Monte-Carlo gathered at the Winston Churchill statue on Avenue de Grande-Bretagne to honor the British and Commonwealth soldiers who fought in the world wars. The commemoration, held at the site of Churchill's bust, highlighted the former British Prime Minister's frequent visits to Monaco post-1945 and his enduring ties to the principality, notably his stays at the Hôtel de Paris.
The attendees then participated in a Remembrance Sunday service back at St. Paul’s Church, which was marked by moments of reflection and prayer. This solemn occasion served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and peace, bringing the congregation closer in shared remembrance.
This annual event not only reinforces the historical connections between Monaco and the British and Commonwealth communities but also emphasizes the collective memory and respect for those who served. It underscores Monaco's commitment to honoring these legacies, ensuring that the contributions of these combatants are remembered within the principality.
