Monte-Carlo Rally Launches 93rd Edition with Thrilling Challenges and Innovations

The 93rd edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally, the premier event of the FIA World Rally Championship, commenced on January 23 with a vibrant opening ceremony at Monaco's Casino Square. This year, the competition, which runs through January 26, will once again test the mettle of world-class drivers over the challenging terrains of the Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, and Drôme. The event promises intense excitement, culminating in a prize-giving ceremony back at Casino Square.

This edition marks the rally's return to Gap, a town synonymous with the event from 2014 to 2021 and in 2024. Competitors will face the notorious Col de Turini, known for its treacherous snow and ice conditions, in the Power Stage finale. The rally’s route through these daunting landscapes requires peak performance and strategic prowess, continuing a storied tradition of high-stakes motorsport under challenging conditions.

Emphasizing sustainability, the rally introduces hybrid "Rally1" vehicles and 100% sustainable fuel, reinforcing the World Rally Championship's commitment to environmental responsibility. This initiative not only highlights the evolution of the iconic Monte-Carlo Rally but also reaffirms Monaco's esteemed status as a hub of innovation and tradition in global motorsport.
