Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival Concludes with Royal Glamour and International Flair

The 21st Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival, directed by Ezio Greggio, concluded on a high note at the Grimaldi Forum, with a glamorous gala and award ceremony on Saturday, November 30. The event, which began on November 27, saw HSH Prince Albert II in attendance, underscoring the festival's prominence in Monaco's cultural calendar. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the MCFF Excellence Award by Prince Albert to esteemed director Giuseppe Tornatore, known for his Oscar-winning work on 'Cinema Paradiso'.

The festival featured a diverse array of international films, with Spanish director Dani De La Orden’s 'La Casa en Flames' taking center stage by winning Best Film and the Public Jury Prize. This marked De La Orden’s fourth successful participation at the festival, demonstrating his continued appeal to both audiences and the jury, which this year included notable figures like French actress Anne Brochet. Other prominent awardees included Canada’s Matthew Rankin, who received Best Director for 'Universal Language', and Argentina’s Marcelo Subiotto, who was named Best Actor for his performance in 'Puan'.

The event also served as a platform to honor various luminaries and emerging talents in the film industry. Alongside Tornatore, veteran actress Andréa Ferréol was celebrated for her 50-year illustrious career. Meanwhile, newcomers such as Salvatore Esposito and Federica Sabatini were recognized for their impactful performances in 'Gomorra' and 'Suburra', respectively. The festival not only highlighted achievements in film but also reinforced Monaco's status as a key player in the international cinematic community.
