The prestigious 29th Tournoi International de Judo de Monaco (TIJM) is set to captivate judo enthusiasts in the Principality on December 8, 2024. This significant event will bring together over 100 top judokas from across Europe to compete at the Salle Gaston Médecin. The tournament highlights the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Fédération Monégasque de Judo, underscoring the federation's enduring legacy under the leadership of President Sophie Vincent.
This year's edition continues to feature the Gérard Bertrand Trophy, a team competition honoring the Federation president's significant contributions since 2015. The format of the tournament consists of 14 teams, each comprising 7 members, competing in a rigorous single-elimination format. The inclusion of automatic repechage ensures that each team engages in at least two bouts, enhancing the competitive spirit of the event.
The day's competitions will commence at 9:00 a.m., progressing to critical stages with semifinals at 2:30 p.m., the third-place match at 3:00 p.m., and culminating in the final battle at 4:00 p.m. This tournament not only promises high-level judo action but also celebrates the strong community and sportsmanship within the judo fraternity in Monaco, following the recent exhilarating performances at the Paris Olympics.
