Monaco Students Spread Holiday Cheer to Seniors Through Geste de Noël Initiative

Monaco students brought festive cheer to the Principality's isolated senior citizens on Thursday, December 19, as part of the annual Geste de Noël initiative organized by the Mairie’s Service des Seniors et de l’Action Sociale. The event saw 25 elderly residents receive visits and gift baskets, aimed at reducing loneliness during the holiday season.

The initiative was supported by Deputy Mayor Camille Svara, who specializes in Social Affairs, and accompanied by councillors Jacques Pastor, Karyn Ardisson Salopek, and Nathalie Vaccarezza. Volunteers, including local students, delivered baskets containing a panettone, a jar of jam, a Christmas mug with chocolates, a cozy plaid, and biscuits prepared by AMAPEI, enhancing the community spirit.

The Service des Seniors et de l’Action Sociale expressed gratitude towards the young volunteers by presenting them with a voucher, chocolates, and holiday cookies, acknowledging their significant contribution to this heartwarming cause. This annual event not only provides practical support to Monaco’s seniors but also fosters a sense of connectedness and goodwill across generations during the festive season.
