Monaco's St Paul's Anglican Church Marks Annual 9 Lessons and Carols with Royal Presence

The annual 9 Lessons and Carols service at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Monte Carlo, held on December 15, was graced by the presence of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, drawing a full house of attendees to this revered Christmas event. The service, a long-standing tradition in the community, was led by Father Hugh, the chaplain, who highlighted the significance of Christian love amidst global unrest and prayed for worldwide peace. The narrative of Christmas was told through readings by church members and Monsignor Dominique-Marie David, the Archbishop of Monaco.

Musical offerings were pivotal to the celebration, with the congregation participating in classic carols and the church choir, under Errol Girdlestone’s direction, performing pieces by notable composers like Rutter and Britten. The performance of "Minuit Chrétiens" by soprano Felicity Murphy was particularly stirring, showcasing the deep musical talent within the St Paul’s community.

The event wrapped up with a Benediction and a convivial reception in the English Library, where attendees enjoyed refreshments and shared in the festive spirit. This gathering not only underscored the community's camaraderie but also reinforced the cherished values of fellowship during the holiday season.
