Monaco's Princely Family Joins Luminaries to Inaugurate Festive City Lights

On a recent enchanting evening in the Principality of Monaco, the holiday season commenced with a radiant display of lights, illuminating the city with a festive glow. The lighting ceremony, held at the historic Place du Palais Princier, was led by the Princely Couple, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, along with their children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. Distinguished attendees included Camille Gottlieb, Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, Mayor Georges Marsan, members of the Communal Council, and senior Monaco officials, all gathered to partake in the cherished tradition.

During the ceremony, Mayor Marsan delivered a heartfelt speech from the steps of the Prince’s Palace, highlighting the significance of the event. “It is a great honour for us to illuminate our city from this venerable location, a symbol of the unity of our community under its Sovereign," he remarked. The highlight of the evening occurred when the young Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, assisted by their parents, activated the ceremonial buzzer. This action set the city ablaze with intricate light installations, enhancing various landmarks including the Prince’s Palace and the Carabinieri barracks.

The 2023 festive lighting setup in Monaco boasts 87 transverse motifs and 410 lamp post decorations, enhanced by 25 newly designed scenographies, all utilizing energy-efficient LED technology. This initiative underscores Monaco’s commitment to environmental sustainability, with the decorations poised to brighten the principality until January 5, 2025. The event not only marked the beginning of the holiday festivities but also symbolized the unity and joy of the Monégasque community.
