The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, in collaboration with SEK International University, has unveiled the 2025 edition of its prestigious Environmental Photography Award. Starting September 3, photographers from around the globe, both amateurs and professionals, are encouraged to submit their works through the official competition portal until the November 3 deadline. The event, which marks its fifth anniversary this year, is free to enter and seeks to capture the splendor of our environment and the complex interactions between humans and nature.
Participants are invited to explore themes across five categories, including Polar Wonders, Ocean Worlds, Into the Forest, Humanity versus Nature, and Change Makers: Reasons for Hope. The contest promises to select 36 standout photographs, from which seven will be honored with special recognitions. The top accolade, the Environmental Photographer of the Year, includes a €5,000 prize and an exclusive trip to Monaco. Additional recognitions comprise category-specific grants and accolades for public and student-chosen favorites.
The announcement of the winners is scheduled for April 15, 2025, with subsequent exhibitions planned in Monaco and major international cities like Rome, Madrid, and Washington D.C. This year's jury, led by acclaimed National Geographic photographer Ami Vitale, features eminent figures in photography committed to environmental conservation. The competition underscores the Foundation’s ongoing dedication to enhancing environmental consciousness through the power of photography. For further details, please visit www.fpa2photoaward.org.
