Monaco's promising young skier, Hugo Leonelli, recently showcased his skills at the Winter Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani, Georgia, competing in both the giant slalom and slalom events. The 17-year-old athlete, who is supported by the Monaco Olympic Committee, demonstrated resilience and skill in challenging weather conditions, marking another significant step in his burgeoning sports career.
During the festival, which brings together top young athletes from across Europe aged 15 to 18, Leonelli delivered commendable performances, particularly shining in the giant slalom under ideal course conditions. However, the slalom proved more challenging, with deteriorating slope conditions leading to only a third of the competitors completing the course. Despite these obstacles, Leonelli's participation underscored his potential and his determination to advance in competitive skiing.
Leonelli, who is currently honing his skills at the Apex 2100 ski academy in Tignes, benefits from world-class training facilities and coaching. His progress is keenly supported by both the Monaco Ski Federation and the Olympic Committee, reflecting their confidence in his future prospects. As Leonelli continues to develop his talents, he is viewed as a potential candidate for future Winter Olympics, symbolizing Monaco’s growing presence in international winter sports.
