In a move to bolster regional collaboration, Monaco's Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, attended the second Franco-Italian Cross-Border Cooperation Committee meeting in Nice. The session, co-chaired by France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, and Italy's Deputy Prime Minister, Antonio Tajani, marks a continued effort under the Quirinal Treaty to enhance bilateral cooperation. Monaco, while not a signatory, participates as an official observer due to its close geographical and economic ties with the region.
The committee convened at Villa Masséna, focusing on advancing cross-border collaboration in transportation, environmental sustainability, education, and healthcare. Notably, discussions pertinent to Monaco included the improvement of the Nice-Ventimiglia railway line and the management of water resources in the Roya Valley, crucial for the Principality. These topics are of significant interest due to their direct impact on Monaco's infrastructure and environmental management.
Monaco's engagement in the committee underscores its commitment to regional cooperation and the efficient management of shared resources. Minister Berro-Amadeï emphasized the importance of maintaining a high-quality rail service vital for commuters and residents, and highlighted Monaco's dedication to sustainable water management in the Roya Valley. This participation not only strengthens Monaco's ties with France and Italy but also reaffirms its role in fostering collaborative solutions to regional challenges.
