The 6th plenary session of Monaco's Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights recently convened, bringing together prominent figures from the principality’s institutions, judiciary, and civil associations. Presided over by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, the meeting underscored the Committee's progress since its inception in 2018 in advancing gender equality and addressing violence against women in Monaco. The session, which began with a tribute to H.E. Didier Guillaume, also celebrated the Committee's growing recognition on both local and international stages.
During the session, Céline Cottalorda, Monaco’s Interministerial Delegate for Women’s Rights, reviewed the accomplishments of the past year. She highlighted key initiatives such as the “POWHER” campaign and the November 25 project, which utilized digital storytelling to illuminate less visible forms of violence. Additionally, new analytical tools have been introduced to assess relationship violence, particularly among the youth, complemented by specialized training programs for nearly 300 professionals across various sectors.
In her concluding statements, Berro-Amadeï called attention to the persistent global challenges faced by women, including poverty, conflict, and inequality in education and social protection. She expressed her gratitude towards all contributors to the cause and emphasized the need for a unified approach to achieve gender equality. Looking ahead, the Committee will host a significant event on March 8 at Espace Léo Ferré to observe International Women’s Day, featuring a comprehensive agenda of activities and discussions aimed at further promoting women's rights in Monaco.
