Monaco residents are currently experiencing a rise in phishing attempts, with fraudulent emails aiming to compromise personal data and take control of various online accounts, including those related to social media, banking, and administrative services. In response to these security threats, Monaco Telecom has issued a critical advisory urging its customers to exercise heightened vigilance. Subscribers are advised to refrain from clicking on links, replying to suspicious messages, opening email attachments, or disclosing login credentials in these emails.
In its commitment to bolster cybersecurity, Monaco Telecom suggests adopting robust password practices. It advises that passwords should be a minimum of 12 characters in length and unique across different services. The use of a password manager is recommended to help create and manage these complex passwords securely. Specifically, the password utilized for the Monaco Telecom Client Portal, known as myMT, should be distinct from those used for email and other accounts to ensure optimal security.
Monaco Telecom has also enhanced its customer support to aid residents in protecting their accounts. Online support platforms have been made available, offering assistance in both French and English for securing the Client Portal as well as email accounts. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the impact of phishing and secure the digital presence of Monaco's residents against potential cyber threats.
