The Municipality of Monaco has reinforced its commitment to educational and cultural enrichment by establishing a partnership with the non-profit organization "Aux Cœurs des Mots" (ACDM). The formal agreement, announced on Monday, December 16, was officiated by Mayor Georges Marsan and Deputy Mayor Camille Svara, highlighting the Municipality's dedication to fostering literacy and education. This collaboration will focus on enhancing French language skills and increasing access to reading materials in disadvantaged areas, while also promoting the works of local Monégasque authors.
During the ceremony, Mayor Marsan underscored the alignment of this initiative with the principled causes supported by the Princely Family, notably the advancement of education for children regardless of gender. The partnership will see the Municipality assist ACDM with the logistics of collecting, sorting, and distributing books, and with financial support for acquiring new books. The initiative, therefore, not only extends Monaco’s cultural outreach but also strengthens its social responsibility endeavors.
The program has already shown significant impact, with over 40 schools in Senegal receiving around 6,000 books, 1,000 of which were donations from Monaco’s own Media Library. ACDM plans to extend this initiative to further regions, aiming to establish well-equipped school libraries and provide teacher training to optimize the use of these resources. Residents of Monaco interested in supporting or learning more about this initiative can obtain further information at auxcoeursdesmots.org.
