Monaco has launched a pioneering nighttime mobile care service aimed at aiding elderly residents with reduced autonomy, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Principality. The service, orchestrated by the Center for Geriatric Coordination (CCGM), allows seniors to maintain independence by staying in their homes under optimal conditions. This support extends to their caregivers as well, providing much-needed relief and assistance during nighttime hours.
Under the new scheme, caregivers conduct visits to elderly residents' homes that can last up to 45 minutes and may occur once or twice nightly, based on individual needs determined through a geriatric evaluation by the CCGM. These professionals perform various tasks including securing the home, monitoring medication intake, and assisting with hygiene and mobility, aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of seniors during the night.
The initiative not only enhances the living conditions of Monaco’s elderly population by allowing them to remain comfortably at home but also alleviates the physical and emotional burdens often shouldered by family members and caregivers. This innovative service underscores Monaco’s commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to its aging residents.
