The 18th Youth Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) was inaugurated on October 9, with Jean-Philippe Vinci, Director of National Education, Youth, and Sports, and Caroline Rougaignon-Vernin, President of the CESE, in attendance. The launch event was marked by the participation of school leaders and educators from Albert 1er, François d’Assise Nicolas Barré, and Rainier III high schools, highlighting the council's commitment to involving Monaco's youth in civic engagement.
The CESE Youth Council offers high school students in Monaco an important platform to engage with public affairs by crafting and debating proposals on various issues, which are then presented to governmental authorities. This initiative, deeply rooted in voluntary participation, not only enriches the students' understanding of political and administrative processes but also allows them to interact directly with both public and private sector stakeholders, thereby enhancing their practical knowledge and civic responsibility.
This academic year, 41 students will serve as council members, culminating their efforts in May with a formal presentation of their proposals. Since its establishment in 2007, the Youth Council has seen over 580 participants and has successfully implemented several impactful projects, including the creation of therapeutic sensory gardens and the City Stadium, demonstrating the tangible outcomes of involving young citizens in the governance of Monaco.
