Monaco has launched a commemorative stamp titled "Pilgrims of Hope" to celebrate the Holy Year 2025, underscoring its deep-rooted Catholic heritage and commitment to the Church's pivotal events. The Principality's latest philatelic issue reflects its ongoing relationship with religious traditions and observances.
On December 18, 2024, Ambassador Philippe Orengo of Monaco to the Holy See presented the Jubilee-themed philatelic items to Pope Francis. The presentation featured a specially crafted triptych, which included the commemorative stamp, a first-day-of-issue envelope, and a ten-stamp block with ornate illuminated lettering marking the Holy Year 2025.
In a significant gesture of reverence, a high-philately insert numbered 2025 was also given to the Pope, featuring the new stamp alongside a series commemorating the Holy Year 2000's Twelve Apostles. This act not only reiterates Monaco’s devotion to the Holy Father but also highlights its strong ongoing connections with the Catholic Church.
