Monaco Intensifies Fight Against Invisible Violence with New Awareness Campaign

In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, Monaco has launched a new initiative to spotlight the often overlooked issue of "invisible violence." Spearheaded by Céline Cottalorda, the Principality's Interministerial Delegate for Women's Rights, the campaign focuses on broadening public awareness about subtle forms of violence, such as economic abuse, violence in sports, and against women with disabilities. The campaign emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing these hidden abuses to aid victims in their journey toward recovery.

The campaign features a striking visual theme titled "From Shadow to Light," which portrays a woman and her child escaping from an isolating bubble into brightness, symbolizing the path from victimhood to empowerment. This central image adapts to various themes and victim profiles, encapsulating the different experiences of violence. Additionally, a digital book, "Chronicles of Invisible Violence," accompanies the campaign, featuring interviews with Monaco's experts from healthcare, social services, law enforcement, and legal sectors. These insights, available on the Committee’s website and soon on YouTube, aim to foster understanding and offer strategies to break the cycle of violence.

To enhance the reach and impact of the initiative, Monaco will host a series of related events throughout the week. These include conferences, testimonies, roundtable discussions, and performances, all designed to foster dialogue and educate the community. Visual displays on buses and digital panels, along with engagement efforts by local associations and the symbolic white ribbon, will further promote solidarity and community action against gender-based violence in Monaco.
