The Port Hercule in Monaco was a vibrant scene on Saturday, August 17, as local and international basketball teams competed in the Monaco International Lite Quest tournament. Among the contenders were teams from Nice Vauban, Menton, Bordeaux, Clermont, Sanremo, Bologna, as well as international participants from Louvain, Belgium, and Pando Mataro, Spain. The event, which featured the fast-paced 3×3 basketball format, offered a €1,200 prize to the victors and €800 for the second-place finishers.
The 3×3 format, a variation from the traditional 5×5 game, is played on a half-court with games lasting 10 minutes or until a team scores 21 points, with a rapid 12-second shot clock to keep the action moving. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, the game advances to overtime where the first team to score two points claims victory.
Despite the Monaco team's defeat by Bologna, the tournament was deemed a success, fostering competitive spirit and sportsmanship. Plans are already underway to host another edition of the Monaco International Lite Quest next year, promising another exciting event for basketball enthusiasts in the Principality.
