In a significant stride toward eco-friendly motorsport, Monaco recently hosted the unveiling of the "Pioneering 25," a hydrogen-powered racing car, on the distinguished Place du Palais Princier. This event marks the car's induction into the forthcoming Extreme H series, the world's first global hydrogen off-road racing championship, set to premiere in 2025. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, an ardent supporter of environmental sustainability, personally took the car for a test drive, underscoring the Principality's dedication to advancing green technology in motorsport.
During the presentation, Prince Albert II praised the vehicle for its impressive design and performance, highlighting the smooth acceleration and agility that hydrogen power offers. The launch of the Extreme H series, as explained by Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E and Extreme H, is intended to serve as a developmental platform for hydrogen technology, propelling it from the racetrack to everyday road vehicles. This initiative aligns with Monaco's broader strategy to champion clean energy sources in transportation and beyond.
The debut of the "Pioneering 25" coincided with a high-level forum on the future of hydrogen in mobility, held at the Hôtel Hermitage in Monaco. The forum gathered global experts to discuss the integration of hydrogen technology in the energy sector, reinforcing Monaco's role as a leader in promoting sustainable innovations. As the Extreme H series prepares to join the FIA World Championship calendar by 2026, Monaco is set to play a crucial role in showcasing and developing technologies that could define the future of sustainable mobility worldwide.
