In an effort to bolster water conservation, the Princely Government of Monaco has initiated the installation of water recycling systems at public car wash facilities, starting with the station at Heliport Parking. This new system supports nearly closed-loop water use, enabling the repeated reuse of water, which significantly curtails water waste compared to traditional methods that typically rely on and discard potable water.
The innovative system not only conserves water but also operates without chemical additives. It involves a process where water from the car wash is collected, decanted, and then processed through a biological reactor. Subsequently, it is filtered and disinfected before being cycled back for use. This eco-friendly cycle not only helps in preserving the environment but also ensures the availability of car wash services throughout the year, irrespective of drought conditions.
Looking ahead, the government plans to extend this environmentally sustainable initiative to additional car wash stations located at Wurtemberg, La Colle, and Salines parking areas. This step forward reiterates Monaco's commitment to advanced environmental conservation practices and sustainable resource management within the urban infrastructure.
