Monaco, France, Italy Unite at RAMOGE and Pelagos Marine Conservation Event

Monaco's dedication to marine conservation was highlighted during the first joint event by the RAMOGE and Pelagos Accords, emphasizing collaborative efforts to protect the Mediterranean Sea. The meeting, hosted at the Sciences Po Middle East and Mediterranean campus in Menton, saw participation from senior officials from France, Italy, and Monaco, as well as stakeholders from marine protected areas and local authorities. This gathering followed a significant Memorandum of Understanding signed during Monaco Ocean Week 2024 in the presence of Prince Albert II, reinforcing the principality's leadership in ocean conservation initiatives aimed at curbing marine pollution and mitigating human impacts on regional marine ecosystems.

The day-long event showcased ongoing projects from both RAMOGE and Pelagos, focusing on combating pollution and promoting sustainable maritime activities. Key discussions included the involvement of local municipalities in marine protection and the engagement of recreational boaters through the Pelagos Ambassador program. These dialogues are expected to influence future policy-making and conservation strategies, strengthening the framework for marine environmental governance.

The event also featured a cultural touch, with a mural unveiling by Monaco-based artist Anthony Alberti, known as Mr. One Teas. The artwork, created in collaboration with students, symbolized the collective commitment to preserving the Mediterranean's biodiversity.
