Monaco Enhances Cemetery Access with New Covered Car Park Project

The Monaco Government and the Town Hall have embarked on a significant initiative to enhance the accessibility of the Monaco cemetery. This project includes the construction of a covered car park with 30 spaces, which will commence in mid-December, aimed at facilitating easier access for those visiting to pay their respects. This development is projected to take around 18 months to complete, with preparation having already started on November 25 by the Public Works Department.

In an effort to ensure that the cemetery remains a place of serenity and respect, the construction plan includes several measures to minimize disruption. Work will be halted during funeral services, and acoustic barriers will be erected around areas of loud activity to maintain the tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, specific entry points for construction vehicles have been designated on Avenue Pasteur and at the medium car park to enhance safety.

Further improvements to the cemetery will involve the installation of two lifting platforms intended to aid visitors with reduced mobility. Clear signage will be implemented to direct visitors towards the lower entrance on Boulevard Charles III/Cap d’Ail, and to guide them to nearby public car parks that are equipped with elevators, such as Salines and Wurtemberg. Both the government and the Town Hall are committed to respecting the dignity of the site and its visitors throughout this period of enhancement.
