Monaco actively participated in the 31st Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), hosted in Malta on December 5 and 6, 2024. The Principality was represented by Government Counsellor-Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, alongside S.E. Lorenzo Ravano, Monaco’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, and Jean-Laurent Imbert, Deputy Permanent Representative.
During the Council, themed “Strengthening Resilience, Enhancing Security,” Berro-Amadeï addressed the assembly of over 40 foreign ministers, expressing strong condemnation of the ongoing violations of international law in Ukraine. She reiterated Monaco’s commitment to supporting the vulnerable populations affected by the conflict, emphasizing the Principality’s investment in multilateral projects aimed at bolstering stability, particularly in the Mediterranean amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The event also celebrated the successful appointment of new OSCE leadership, facilitated by the Maltese presidency. Key positions filled included Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu of Turkey as Secretary-General, and Maria Telalian of Greece as Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. These pivotal appointments, effective for three years, underscore Monaco’s ongoing engagement in fostering global stability and cooperative international dialogue.
