A Monaco driver faced immediate legal repercussions after being apprehended for significantly exceeding the speed limit on the A89 motorway in Dordogne, France. The incident, which took place at the Mussidan toll booth during the congested holiday period on August 4, led to the immediate revocation of the driver's license and the immobilization of the vehicle, a Cupra registered in Monaco.
According to France Bleu Périgord, the motorist was recorded traveling at 199 km/h in a zone restricted to 110 km/h, surpassing the speed limit by almost 90 km/h. The Saint-Astier motorized squad, equipped with binoculars, spotted and subsequently halted the speeding car amidst peak traffic conditions typically observed during the July-August holiday crossover.
The driver now awaits a court ruling, during which time he will be without his vehicle. This enforced period of reflection comes as a direct consequence of his actions, underscoring the stringent enforcement of traffic laws aimed at curbing such dangerous behavior on the roads.
