On November 12, 2024, a delegation from the Monaco Government and the National Council toured the newly inaugurated "A Fighera" building, previously known as "Villa Carmelha," a key development in the National Housing Plan aimed at benefiting Monegasques. This project, a pioneer in Europe, features the innovative Canadian Upbrella construction technology, which supports a seamless, eco-friendly building process by protecting workers from weather conditions and reducing environmental disturbances to the surrounding area.
"A Fighera" incorporates 25 apartments and stands as a testament to Monaco's dedication to sustainable development, boasting a BD2M® Gold certification for its environmentally conscious design. This includes energy-efficient bioclimatic architecture and extensive use of renewable materials. Additionally, the building harnesses energy from renewable sources, supplemented by rooftop solar panels and an advanced hydrogen-based storage system, underscoring Monaco's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
The project, which began allocating apartments to tenants in September, comprises a mix of two, three, and four-room units. With its completion, Monaco has made significant strides towards its 2024 housing goals, providing 254 new residences and fulfilling 75% of this year's demand. Further plans are set for another allocation round in February 2025, as the principality continues to address its housing needs efficiently and sustainably.
