Monaco Declares Day of Mourning to Honor Late Minister Didier Guillaume

Monaco is set to honor the esteemed legacy of the late Minister of State Didier Guillaume, who passed away on Friday, January 17. In recognition of his dedicated service, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has declared a day of national mourning to be observed on the day of Guillaume's funeral, scheduled for Thursday, January 23 at Monaco Cathedral at 11:00 AM. During the ceremony, national flags will be lowered to half-mast on all public buildings throughout the Principality.

In a display of communal remembrance, a minute of silence will be held on Monday, January 20, at 11:00 AM, initiated by a siren that will sound across Monaco to inspire a moment of collective reflection in honor of Guillaume. This gesture underscores the deep respect and appreciation the Principality holds for his contributions.

To further allow residents and officials to express their condolences, a chapel of rest will be open to the public in the Chapel of Mercy on Town Hall Square from Monday, January 20, to Wednesday, January 22, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A book of condolences will be available for those who wish to record their memories and messages, providing a space for personal tributes to the late minister.
