This Thursday evening, the Concerts du Palais Princier will wrap up their summer series with a performance featuring two notable rising stars in the classical music scene: Japanese pianist Mao Fujita and Czech conductor Petr Popelka. The concert, a culmination of a vibrant season, will see 26-year-old Fujita, celebrated for his prowess in Japan, making his debut in the Côte d’Azur. He will perform Dvořák’s concerto, a piece with which he has dazzled audiences internationally, including during a recent tour in Japan with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic.
The orchestra will be under the baton of Petr Popelka, the 37-year-old newly appointed director of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Popelka’s leadership is expected to complement Fujita’s virtuosic display, as both artists represent the leading edge of the next generation in classical music. Their collaboration promises to deliver a memorable closing to this season's offerings, which began in July and featured several distinguished performances, including that of pianist Alexandre Kantorow, who later appeared at the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Paris.
As the summer concert season at the Palais Princier concludes, attendees can anticipate a finale that not only showcases the extraordinary talents of Fujita and Popelka but also reinforces the series' reputation for presenting world-class musical artistry. This final performance is poised to leave an indelible mark on the Principality’s cultural landscape, echoing the high standards and artistic excellence that Monaco’s audiences have come to expect.
