Cathy Foyle Receives Posthumous OBE for Husband at Buckingham Palace Ceremony

In a poignant ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Cathy Foyle, widow of the esteemed Christopher Foyle OBE DL, received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on behalf of her late husband. The accolade, presented by King Charles III, commemorates Christopher Foyle’s significant contributions to aviation, literature, and philanthropy. Cathy expressed her deep honor in accepting the award, lamenting that her husband was not present to receive it himself, and reflecting on the joy and virtues he brought to their 39 years of marriage.

Christopher Foyle, who passed away in 2022, was a prominent figure with substantial influence in both the aviation and literary sectors. His leadership roles included Chairman positions at Air Foyle, Air Foyle Heavylift, and the British Cargo Airline Alliance, as well as the iconic London bookstore, W. & G. Foyle Limited. He also served as Past President of the International Air Cargo Association, shaping the modern aviation landscape and making a lasting impact on literary circles through his stewardship of Foyles.

The ceremony also highlighted Cathy Foyle’s tribute to the Air League of Monaco, an initiative founded by Christopher in 2013 to aid aspiring aviators. Cathy thanked Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the league's members for their commitment to continuing her husband's vision, ensuring that young aviation enthusiasts have the opportunities to pursue their dreams. This enduring recognition at Buckingham Palace underscores not only Christopher Foyle’s remarkable achievements but also the enduring values he championed throughout his life.
